New Zealand Ice Hockey is staging a training camp in Dunedin which includes the men’s under-23 side as well as the Ice Blacks.
The training camp will feature a rather unique game this afternoon.
It is a special four-period fixture made up of two games in one. Period one and two will see the under-23 squad divided along north-south lines and period three and four will see the Ice Blacks split along the same lines.
The north-south element is sure to help bring out the best in the players.
Devlin is certainly looking forward to it.
"This will be pretty much a trial [for that final squad]," he said.
"It is like an intrasquad game and everyone wants to win those ones and will be playing as hard as they can.
"Everyone is out to impress."
The game gets under way at 4.30pm.
Next week the Ice Fernz and the New Zealand under-18 women’s team will have a similar camp and will also play in a north versus south match next Saturday.
