Mrs Moore yesterday said Reading was delighted to offer the very latest in technology which will allow both 3-D and 2-D feature films to be screened in the 68-seat heritage cinema and the 110-seat cinema two in the three-cinema complex on Queenstown Mall.
The three large film projectors used at present will be broken down and removed to make way for the new projectors, signalling the end of an era in the resort.
Distributors are not expected to continue supplying 35mm film prints after the end of the year.
Digital and 3-D installation will take place in August, when Reading will take the opportunity of a couple of days of closure to upgrade its Queenstown theatre foyer for the first time in years, Mrs Moore said.
''I believe providing the latest technology and opening with the new look Diesel colour foyer to our local and visiting moviegoers will improve the overall movie experience,'' she said.
