Horizon Flowers NZ Ltd operates its growing fields over 80ha in and around Dacre, near Invercargill. Horizon Flowers NZ Ltd manager Roy Smak said weather had played havoc with the harvest of the flowers.
"The season has been up and down really. We would have some cold days with rain and then some really hot, dry days," he said.
The season was likely to finish next week. Staffing had been tricky and finding reliable, good staff was difficult.
But all the bulbs had been picked which was pleasing, and staff had done well, he said.
The tulips are sent all over the world, many to the parent company in the Netherlands, but also to other countries in Asia and Europe.
