Wrong ticket provides Dunedin woman with a whole lotto luck

A close shave has won a Dunedin hairdresser $20,000.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, won $20,000 on Keno last week after accidentally buying the wrong ticket.

The woman went to buy a Big Wednesday ticket during her weekly shop, but was printed a Keno ticket by mistake.

''When I got a Keno ticket instead, I thought, 'It doesn't matter, I'll just keep this'.

''I definitely think it was fate that I got given the ticket. I was meant to have it,'' she said.

A week later, the woman learnt of her success.

''I was scanning my ticket ... when it said it was a winning ticket. I couldn't believe it.

''I thought I was going to faint, my heart was beating really quickly and my hands started shaking.''

The woman had planned what to do with her winnings.

''I've already bought a new three-piece lounge suite and now I'm looking at plasma TVs.

''The rest I'll save for a nice holiday,'' she said.

It was second time lucky for the winner.

''The only other time I've played Keno was 10 years ago and I won $200.

''Maybe in another 10 years I'll play again and win even more.''
