Leading Otepoti-Dunedin bands, poets and artists will perform in venues across Port Chalmers this Saturday, in support of a local landmark.

The Foundry Festival 2022, which will run from 2pm until late, is presented by the Port Chalmers Foundry Trust with the aim of raising awareness and funds for the restoration of the historic Sims/Stevenson & Cook building in Beach St, Port Chalmers.

The trust is working to transform the site into a community hub, housing a mid-sized music venue, purpose-built art exhibition spaces, music recording facilities and spaces for local, national and international artists to practise their craft.

The line-up is packed full of genre diverse Otepoti-Dunedin artists, featuring newly emerging acts through to veteran performers, taking the stage at Port Chalmers Town Hall and Pioneer Hall.

The music line-up at Port Chalmers Town Hall, from 2pm, will feature Cap’n Spoonbill, Tiny Pieces of Eight, Whirling Eddys, Pop Tops, Emily Alice, Pottley Blues, Swell Guys, Tahu & the Takahes, and Shakes and the Trouble Makers.

The music line-up at Pioneer Hall, from 2.15pm, will feature Niamh Crooks, Gabi Summerfield, Francisca Griffin, Terry Ebeling, Flying Man, Beth Elsden, Lara Rose, Ryan Shanks, Boaz Anema, and Human Confusion.

The Foundry Festival "Poets Corner", at Holy Trinity Church, cnr Scotia and Grey Sts, will feature poetry readings and guitar interludes from 2pm-4pm.

Performers will include poets Victor Billot, Majella Cullinane, Cilla McQueen, Emma Neale, Vincent O’Sullivan, Steve Thomas, and Iona Winter, and guitarists Richard Wallis, Malcolm Honeychurch, and Tony Morison.

The Foundry Festival culminates in a special 40th anniversary show by The Bats, with support from 9-piece local greats Koile, from 8pm at Port Chalmers Town Hall.
