Since August last year, the Dunedin 10-year-old has received a box of new toys from The Warehouse each month.
His task: to test them and give feedback to the national franchise.
Tom was one of four children chosen as toy testers after entering a competition run by company last year.
Next month's delivery will be his last, as another lucky child will take his place.
Tom's favourite toys to test included an Xbox 360 and a basketball hoop.
His bedroom was littered with Lego and there were board games galore in the Gold family's Maori Hill home.
Tom's advice to the next toy testers was to share their loot.
''Have fun and share the toys with family and friends. It has been great getting all the toys. I've played with everything,'' he said.
His sisters, Olivia (14) and Isabella (11), have happily helped him try the latest in gaming each month.
Their mother, Liz, said The Warehouse had done well selecting toys and games the whole family could enjoy.
Although many were solely marketed to boys Tom's age, at least some each month were appropriate for sharing with siblings, friends and other family members, she said.
In total, Tom will receive about $2400 worth of toys for his year's work as a tester.
The offerings had not caused any problems between Tom and his siblings or peers, Mrs Gold said.
''There have been a few double-ups with toys we've already had, or they had already sent us, and we'll take those to the children's ward at Dunedin Hospital.
''It's like Christmas at the beginning of every month. It's been amazing,'' she said.
The Warehouse will invite applications for its next four toy testers in a couple of weeks.
