Calder Stewart contractors put the finishing touches to the roof of the new Clutha Community Hub in Balclutha late last week, in this aerial photo taken facing southwest.

Hub trust chairman Dale Anderson said recent rain had slowed progress on the roof, but the construction team working at the site at the intersection Charles and Clyde Sts was now "full steam ahead" on the hub’s completion.

"We’re still tracking on schedule, and have recently poured the hub’s mezzanine floor, which will provide an unrivalled view of the Clutha River and nearby bridge.

"It’s amazing to see it coming together, despite the supply chain challenges faced by the team."

He said full funding, of about $24million, had been secured for the project.

"I think people have realised through the scale and significance of the building how it’s going to benefit the community in so many ways. We’re looking forward to seeing it complete."

The hub is scheduled to open in July next year.
