Our Dementia Friendly Otago philosophy is that dementia should not be hidden, and that together, individuals, local business, and communities can enable people with dementia to live well.
Living well means that people are supported to live at home for as long as practical and are engaged in their communities.
Our community educators work in every region of Otago, walking alongside people with dementia and their families. Our services are free and range from being a listening ear, providing information and education, facilitating support groups, and providing support that is responsive to the individual’s needs.
If you are concerned about your own memory loss, or that of a loved-one, or have a recent dementia diagnosis, please contact Alzheimers Otago.
They will tailor support, and guide you through transition points in the dementia journey when your needs change.
