A good Samaritan who stopped to help was bitten by an alleged drunk driver who crashed in Mosgiel yesterday, police say.
Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said officers attended after a 27-year-old woman crashed into a traffic light pole in Gordon Rd, about 3.15am.
A man stopped to help and the woman attacked him, biting his forearm and scratching his face, Snr Sgt Bond said
Another passerby also stopped to render assistance but she was allegedly punched in the face twice by the woman who crashed.
The alleged assailant was the sole occupant of her car and was arrested when police arrived.
She was charged with common assault, injuring with intent, driving contrary to a zero-alcohol licence, refusing a blood sample and resisting arrest.
The woman was bailed and would appear in court next week, Snr Sgt Bond said.
