DCC grants $900K to local groups, events

Local groups, from the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra to the Otago Sports Car Club, have received a share of a $922,400 funding boost from the Dunedin City Council.

The council has announced its July 2022 funding round, which comes from its city service, city project, major community events and premier events funds.

Grants have been awarded to 35 groups, including those that contribute to the vibrancy, economy and social connection of the city.

DCC grants subcommittee chairwoman and deputy mayor Christine Garey said the demand for funding was growing, and not every request could be accommodated, but the council continued to support a wide range of services, activities and events for the benefit of the city.

"The highlight for all subcommittee members is seeing the results of the applications — whether that’s a major festival in the city, an arts programme, or support for residents’ wellbeing — all of which deliver real benefits for our city," she said.
