A popular Dunedin craft brewery has been put up for sale and its owner says it is for personal reasons rather than financial reasons.

New New New Corporation has recently been listed on the market by ABC Business Sales.

The brewery was started by Ian McKinlay, who co-owns it with investment company Southern Capital Ltd, in 2015 in an historic brick stable in Crawford Street in Dunedin.

ABC’s listing described the sale as a "serious opportunity" and said it could produce about onemillion litres of beer per annum.

In response to written questions yesterday, Mr McKinlay said while the past two years had been hard he was ready to move on for personal reasons rather than financial ones.

His original business plan was to do more outside of the brewery and open new venues but Covid-19 had prevented that.

"That has taken some of the excitement out of it for me," he said.

The impacts of Covid-19 had definitely hurt. Being both a venue and a brewery, the company had been hit on "two fronts," he said.

"Our bread and butter on the brewery side is keg sales and our loyal bar and venue customers haven’t had an easy time."

Mr McKinlay hoped that a new owner with "fresh drive and passion" could take the brewery to the next level.

The business was listed for $1.7 million.
