Enjoying the fine weather, hundreds of people celebrated Easter Good Friday in Walks of the Cross and associated church services throughout Otago yesterday, including 100 walkers at Queenstown and 25 at Hampden.

Rev Siosifa Pole, superintendent of the Dunedin Methodist Parish, praised the lively ecumenical spirit shown in Dunedin. Participants had come together ''as one people of God'' and a ''good mixture'' of youth and age showed that Good Friday traditions would be strongly maintained in future, he said.
