It was a case of dogs helping cats at the Remarkables Market on Saturday, with dogs modelling their best garments and uttering their finest words in aid of their feline counterparts.

Entry to the inaugural dog show was either a donation or a can of cat food for the Queenstown Cat Rescue, which finds homes for and de-sexes stray and wild cats.

In third place was Abby, representing food outlet Eat Humble Pie, showing great restraint in not demolishing the pies spelling Top Pie Dog attached to her cape.

The other-worldly couple of Pope Francis Dog and Mother Theresa strolled around spreading goodwill and gained second place for their effort.

Taking away the biggest bag of dog treats was Mindy, who drew inspiration from her own wardrobe to come out looking very stylish in a pair of yellow leggings and a pink hoodie.

A spot prize was given to Frankie, whose combined effort with partner in crime Bryn Veint (4) had Bryn wearing the pants of a spiderman outfit and Frankie wearing the top half.

Other categories included best bark, best trick, best groomed and best discipline.
