Dunedin's young fashion designers and artists have combined to auction a custom leather jacket for charity LifeLine New Zealand this month.
Artist and founder of fashion label Moodie Tuesday, Jon Thom, has joined forces with Elise Barnes and Rachel Webb, creators of womenswear label Undone.
In their early 20s, they wanted Dunedin youth to be included in the city's burgeoning underground fashion, art and music scene, so they organised a showcase event as well as a charity auction to be held during iD Dunedin Fashion Week.
''We wanted to cater to people a bit younger than the traditional iD audience.
''We are all in our early 20s and thought it was a great opportunity to present the amazing things going on in Dunedin that are a little more underground,'' Mr Thom said.
The March 12 event, in the Octa Building, 6 Dowling St, will comprise art installations by Mr Thom and Dunedin photographer Emily Hlavac Green, as well as Dunedin jewellery by Creeps and Violets designer Steph Miller.
Dunedin and Auckland DJs will perform, and fashion from both Moodie Tuesday and Undone will be on show.
Mr Thom created an artwork for the showcase, which was printed on to a leather patch and worked into a custom jacket by Barnes and Webb.
The garment, worth about $900, will be auctioned online, with one of Mr Thom's artworks, leading up to the March 12 function.
