The Otago Museum has won a tourism-related Enviro Gold award for the second year in a row from Qualmark, the country's official quality assurance system.
Enviro awards recognised innovation and ''businesses that work effectively to reduce their main environmental impacts'', Qualmark national account manager Grant Ward said.
Assessment criteria for the awards cover five key areas: energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, community activities and conservation initiatives.
Museum assets and technology manager Joel Oldridge said that by ''improving our environmental performance'' the museum was saving resources, which could then be used for ''adding value to museum experiences'' and to the community.
