The flag of Ukraine was hoisted over the Dunedin's Civic Centre yesterday in a show of support for Ukraine after its recent invasion by Russia.
Ukrainian expatriate Olha Viazenko said acts like these were important to show those back in Ukraine they were not alone in their fight.
"They’re sitting in the shelters, they’re trying to find a way out from that hell.
"Elders who can’t do something and mothers with small children, they want to save their lives and for them it’s really important that we support them and the whole world supports Ukrainians."
