Market organiser Sharlene Inch on Friday said a family fun day would be in store with Queenstown entertainer Craig Smith, also known as Mr Wonky Donkey Man, playing music and telling stories. There would also be children's face-painting, secondhand children's books for sale, along with home baking, ice cream and other fun for the whole family.
Community groups operate fundraising stalls on market days, but this Saturday will be the first time the entire market has been dedicated to supporting a single cause.
Proceeds will go towards new library books, a sandpit upgrade and a new cot at the not-for-profit organisation in Brecon St.
''The usual market vendors will be there selling their fresh produce and they look forward to a great market day with a twist,'' Ms Inch said.
Stonefruits direct from Cromwell and Ettrick were now available to buy, after a late spring and many inquiries from the public, she said.
Between 14 and 16 stalls were expected to be set up,
selling a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, breads, pastries, meats, salmon, honey, cheeses, empanadas and coffee from around Otago and Southland.
The Queenstown Farmers' Market is cash-only and is held on the ground of St Peter's Anglican Church on Saturdays, from 9am to 12.30pm, all summer.
