Enterprise Dunedin is running the Welcome Student and Parent campaign, designed to inform students and parents about the city.
Consumer and trade marketing lead Sarah Ewing said the campaign would show students and parents ‘‘how fantastic Dunedin is as a host city.’’
Videos showcasing the city would feature on Air New Zealand planes and at Dunedin Airport.
A copy of Kia Ora magazine would also be available on flights and sent out to Air New Zealand members.
Two thousand Dunedin-branded envelopes containing messaging and information that encouraged parents to get out and explore the city would be distributed among hotels, motels, airport shuttles and Go Rentals at Dunedin Airport.
There would also be a targeted digital campaign welcoming people into the city.
The campaign was a collaboration between the University of Otago, Otago Polytechnic, Dunedin Airport and Enterprise Dunedin.
Director John Christie said the campaign was designed to give students and their parents acknowledgement for the ‘‘vibrance’’ they brought to the city.
Parents often visited the city briefly to help their children settle in and for graduations.
The campaign would ensure they knew what was available and how they could enjoy their brief visit.
Many students were not aware of what Dunedin had to offer and the campaign would help make sure they experienced the city during their time here.
