A 26-year-old Uruguayan man living in Queenstown has been charged with indecent assault after inviting a taxi driver into his house early yesterday morning.
At 5.40am police were called to the man's Frankton address after the female taxi driver pushed the emergency response button in her car to notify her employer she was in trouble.
The man had shared a taxi with another man, who got out at an address in Adelaide St, before making his move on the driver, Sergeant Steve Watt said yesterday.
''When the driver pulled up to his address, he refused to leave and continued to try and convince her to come inside to his house.''
The man, who was in the front passenger seat, then tried to ''pash'' the woman, despite her asking him to leave on three or more occasions, Sgt Watt said.
''It is unacceptable behaviour and the woman is quite distraught over the incident. She handled the incident really well.''
The man is due to appear in the Queenstown District Court today.
