Move over, Leaning Tower of Pisa

It may look like a contractor is observing the disastrous collapse of the Dunedin Railway Station , but it is just a mishap with scrim.

The scrim, displaying a visual representation of the station, is to mask restoration work going on behind it. However, wind hindered the scrim’s installation yesterday.

Contractors were able to install the printed scrim on sections of scaffolding less exposed to wind and they are expected to try again next week to finish the job.

‘‘There was no damage to the building or the scrim, which was relatively easy to source and is intended to improve the look of the building while work on its refurbishment continues,’’ Dunedin City Council property services group manager David Bainbridge-Zafar said.
