Members of Dunedin's Cothram Foirfe choir continued a heartfelt memorial stretching back more than two years at St Paul's Cathedral yesterday.
Members of the choir dedicated their performance of May It Be, from The Lord of the Rings soundtrack, to the memory of one of their own - former choir member Anna Ryan (17).
Miss Ryan, also a former Queens High School pupil, drowned after falling in the Motatapu River gorge near Wanaka on February 11, 2006. She was a member of the choir at the time of the accident.
Choir director Patricia Scally Richardson told the Otago Daily Times her death had come as "quite a blow".
Choir members continued to mark her death by including her name in official programmes and dedicating performances of her favourite songs to hermemory, Mrs Scally Richardson said.
"We did it the first year and we always include her in the programme, and whenever we sing something she particularly loved we always dedicate that to her," she said.
Yesterday's choir performance was the choir's seventh annual charity concert, which raised money for a selected charity.
This year it was hoped the event would raise about $1000 for child cancer charity Canteen, she said.
Cothram Foirfe - a gaelic name meaning "perfect balance" - was joined by Dunedin performers Sue and Sarah Court and pupils from Logan Park High School and Otago Boys High School at yesterday's concert.
