Jobs to go at stadium catering company

Up to five people from the company that caters for Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin could lose their jobs.

Compass Group NZ managing director Simon Lipscombe confirmed the company had started a review of staffing used for its Dunedin Venues Management Ltd (DVML) contract.

Up to five fulltime-equivalent positions could be affected, he said.

‘‘We have offered our team access to independent support and counselling, as we recognise this is a challenging time for people in the hospitality industry.’’

Compass, or its Restaurant Associates arm, has the exclusive contract to cater for events at Forsyth Barr Stadium and the Dunedin Town Hall.

DVML chief executive Terry Davies said it was up to the catering company to decide how it managed its people.

‘‘I have every confidence they will continue to deliver at the highest quality.’’

This can't be right, I was under the impression they were making so much money the stadium would be paid off in a couple of years, obviously I was wrong.

Well I'm sure they'll be reemployed as soon as the hotel is up!

Farewell to bar service.
