The annual Victorian Ghost Story event lands on the longest night and shortest day of the year.
Castle sales and marketing manager Deborah Price said the idea was mooted 10 years ago by actor and playwright Brian McNeill, who works as a tour guide at Larnach Castle.
However, this year’s event was particularly special for Mr McNeill, as it would be his last.
He is set to retire from the castle after over 20 years.
"We hope to continue having the event, because it is so popular," Ms Price said.
"We are very grateful for Brian and that he came up with the idea."
Numbers for the tour are limited to 75, which was exactly how many people attended the event this week.
"It has just been so successful.
"It’s the right amount of scariness," Ms Price said.
