Featuring a staggering 24 of the city's best bands across two stages, the day begins at 2pm with an all-ages show, followed by a dinner for bands and crew, and an R18 show from 7pm.
Dunedinmusic.com has teamed up with the Amped music project (formerly the Chick's Project) for the event.
The young bands in the project will perform in the all-ages show, supported by their mentor bands.
Organiser and Re:Fuel manager Scott Muir sees the event as one of many achievements of the local music scene.
"The vitality that the local music scene has now is nothing short of amazing," Muir said.
"There are several record labels operating, including Independent Records, Fishrider Records, Proxy Music, Monkey Killer Records, Dunedinmusic.com, and these, along with the Amped music project, the team at The Attic and several other local businesses are growing the Dunedin music scene. It's fertile to say the least."
• Haunted Love (Dunedin duo Geva Downey and Rainy McMaster) will play at The Church on Thursday.
With their wryly romantic dark-pop sound and love lorn lyrics, the pair have won acclaim for their 2011 debut album Spirit Revival.
Also playing at the 8pm gig are Edmund Cake (Breast Secreting Cake and Pie Warmer), who will play a solo set to cement the evening's rarefied air, and local lo-fi popsters Strange Harvest.
• After a year of playing up and down the country, The Shocking and Stunning are releasing their third EP, and are embarking on a national tour to support it.
With a trance-inducing wall of drums and electronics, the Wellington two-piece makes a hypnotic, druggishly repetitive psychedelia.
The pair will be supported by two acts recently featured on the excellent Dunedin compilation It came From the Attic, Space Bats, Attack! and Ostrander Aardvark.
