Shining a light on migrant life

About 60 migrants from Queenstown Lakes, Central Otago and Southland gathered on Queenstown’s waterfront yesterday evening for a candlelight vigil to assert their right to stay in New Zealand.

The peaceful protest, one of six held simultaneously throughout the country, was organised by the Federation of Aotearoa Migrants.

The federation is planning a larger protest outside Parliament today, just before a general debate on immigration
