Entries for the popular Motatapu race, with options for runners, mountain bikers and swimmers, have opened and already the mountain bike event field is over a quarter full, with 550 people getting in early.
The race is not until March 9 next year but when the call went out a week ago, entries started flooding in. The Miners run is also proving popular, with 40 athletes already signed up. The marathon has drawn 60 and 25 keen triathletes have put their name to the dotted line.
Entries close on February 13.
Organiser Gemma Boyle said the interest led her to predict the bike field would be full by November.
