Material used to create a new book and DVD about the Five Forks school and wider area will be retained for posterity after past pupils grouped together to help fund its upkeep.
More than 200 people attended the school's centennial reunion last weekend.
Centenary committee chairman David Ruddenklau said a charity auction over the weekend raised $5000 to help store items that had surfaced when creating the book and DVD.
"This was a magnificent result and it is intended that these funds will be used to ensure that the substantial quantity of archival material gathered for the production of both the book and DVD can be suitably stored and preserved for the future.
"To the best of my knowledge, this is the first book that has been written on the Five Forks, Fuchsia Creek and Maruakoa area."
An oil painting by local artist Sharon Murcott received the highest bid of the night, selling for $1800, he said.
Memorial plaques at the Maruakoa, Fuchsia Creek and Five Forks School sites were also unveiled on Sunday to mark the centenary.
