Otago Regional Council ratepayers will face a 3.86% general rates rise in the coming year.
The finance and corporate committee yesterday accepted recommendations from the panel that heard submissions on the council's draft long-term plan.
It will go to a full council meeting next month for adoption.
Some of the recommendations included dropping the proposed flood protection project for the lower Taieri, and reviewing revenue schemes for the lower Taieri flood protection scheme and the lower Waitaki River.
The panel also recommended turning down a funding request for wilding pine control, as it was council policy that it was landowners' responsibility, but suggested the council put $10,000 towards a new regional trust being developed by the Otago Mayoral Forum to co-ordinate wilding pine efforts.
Some councillors said the trust needed to include community members and those involved in wilding pine control if it was to be effective.
The decision to recommend replacement of the Waipori pump station's flood pumps was important, Cr David Shepherd said.
"They're 1920s technology and you don't see farmers out on the Taieri using 1920s technology. It is insurance."
