The Otago regional Young Enterprise Scheme participants appeared before a Dragon's Den of judges yesterday when the oral presentation segment of the annual competition was held in Dunedin.

Otago Chamber of Commerce Yes regional co-ordinator Paul Allen said each team gave a five-minute presentation with follow-up questions by the "dragons". Questions ranged from market planning and the price of the product.

This year seven Otago high schools were competing.

They were: Columba College, Otago Girls' High School, Queen's High School, St Hilda's Collegiate, Bayfield High School, Kavanagh College and Roxburgh Area School.

Those schools entered a total of 14 teams.

Grow Girls, from St Hilda's, won both the best oral presentation and the best trade display categories. Bullet Proof Productions, from Kavanagh, won the most investment potential category and Fancy Fudge, from St Hilda's, won the best business plan.

The teams go on to produce and sell their products.

In September, they would produce an annual report to show in detail what they had achieved in the year, Mr Allen said.

The regional winner would fly to Wellington late in the year for the national finals.
