Court appearance after donation boxes stolen

A man has appeared in court accused of stealing charity donation boxes, including Anzac Day poppy appeal cash.

Jason Peter Rochford, 26, unemployed, appeared from custody at Christchurch District Court on two charges.

He is accused of stealing a donation box valued at $80, the property of Recovery Canterbury Appeal, on January 1, this year.

Police also allege he stole a poppy donation box valued at $300, the property of the RSA.

Defence counsel Andrew Bailey did not make a bail application.
