Confidence will be high among the Black Caps and with good reason.

The side enters the third and final twenty20 against Pakistan in Napier tonight on a tear of strong form.

Its dominant nine-wicket win in Hamilton on Sunday night kept intact its unbeaten run this summer. It was New Zealand’s sixth win across all formats.

In those six games, the side has barely been pushed.

Mohammad Hafeez offered some resistance on Sunday with a brilliant 99 not out.

However, he was the only Pakistan batsman to fire.

Meanwhile paceman Tim Southee was equally impressive with the ball.

He took four for 21 to help hold the visitors to 163 for six.

But the class of both Tim Seifert and a returning Kane Williamson, who were unbeaten on 84 and 57 respectively, got the Black Caps over the line with ease.

It was form batting coach Luke Ronchi said had the team in good spirits.

"Everyone’s buzzing.

"I think to win the series in two games, play some fantastic cricket with bat and ball and in the field, I think everyone’s buzzing and looking forward to another big game [tonight]."

The way the side has chased its targets so well was particularly pleasing for Ronchi.

He said it was something the team had not done well in recent years, although it was showing its ability to do so this summer.

"I think it’s the intent we’re showing throughout the whole season so far in the T20s.

"We asked early on to show a bit more of that and to chase well.

"We haven’t chased well in the last few years, so to come out and purposefully have a target in mind when we’re doing it has worked out really well.

"To chase the way we have has been fantastic."

It helped continue what Ronchi described as the team’s "amazing" start to the summer.

"If you look at the start of the season, to be in this position everyone would have grabbed it straight away.

"Just keeping doing what we’re doing, just doing all our processes and stuff that can be quite boring at times, but it gets you to where you need to.

"So hopefully we can keeping getting those wins."

Ronchi was unsure if there would be any changes to Sunday’s team, as the side would wait until it saw the pitch and conditions.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7pm.
