Snow down to 400m, about the level of Dunedin's Signal Hill, is forecast for today.
A southwesterly cold front moving on to the South Island was expected to bring snow down to 400m in Southland and coastal Otago by evening, the MetService confirmed yesterday.
Similar conditions were expected tomorrow.
A fine day is forecast for Central Otago.
