Satellite tournaments that will enable poker players to qualify for the 2012 Pokerstars.net NZPT Queenstown SkyCity Snowfest tournament, being held in July, began this week at SkyCity Queenstown Casino.
SkyCity Queenstown Casino general manager Michelle Baillie said the 2012 tournament, with a $3000 buy-in main event, was attracting interest from some of the top players in the Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific regions.
While registrations were yet to open, the satellite tournaments would provide an opportunity to qualify for $35, or poker players could qualify free on Pokerstars.net.
The satellite tournaments would be held at the SkyCity Queenstown Casino every Thursday and Sunday night at 7pm until July 15.
The 2012 tournament will be held from July 24 to 29.
