Two years in the making, the sandpit and play area was officially opened on Friday with a karakia.
The new sandpit boasts a water feature which pumps collected rain water around the sandpit and into an area the children can play in.
Head teacher Tania Barker said raising the funds had been hard work - but that the finished product showed the effort was justified.
"We could never have done it with out everyone's help, from the architects to the parents who ran the sausage sizzles and the quiz nights." Sand and water were very important in the development of children, and the sandpit would be a vital part of the learning environment, she said.
The underground pipes and the water pump were the largest expense of the souped-up pit.
"Making sure everything complied with regulations took a bit of time and effort," she said.
"It was absolutely worth it, though."
