Dale Greene, of Christchurch, taught at Cromwell Kindergarten when it opened, so she had a wealth of experience, Central Otago Kindergarten Association manager Angela Jacobson said this week.
"She'll be fantastic and it's almost like going full circle for her, 30 years later."
The Maniototo building was moved on to its Ranfurly site, in the grounds of the Maniototo Area School, last week, and the kindergarten should open on Monday, May 14.
The single-storey building was built in Balclutha, and the site is a hive of activity as decks, verandas and landscaping are added before it opens.
"We're on the home stretch now. Breens Construction are doing the decks and verandas but the landscaping relies heavily on volunteer labour so it's going to be a busy little place in the next five or six weeks, with all the finishing work," Mrs Jacobson said.
The kindergarten establishment committee began fundraising more than two years ago.
The $619,000 funding was provided by the committee, the association and the Otago Community Trust.
The kindergarten will open with a roll of 20. Enrolments are still being taken. People can register through the association website or by filling in an enrolment form, available at the area school or St John's School, both in Ranfurly.
Shereena Glennie, of Mosgiel, had been appointed a teacher and there would also be part-time teacher, Mrs Jacobson said.
A formal ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 13, to officially open the kindergarten.
