At the Super Rugby Aotearoa match between the Blues and the Highlanders, stadium catering partner Compass will offer a free piece of fruit with every child’s food purchase to encourage healthy eating habits.
Compass unit operations manager Greg Peckowski said it was a chance to give the children another option and a healthy one at that.
He said the company had plenty of bananas, apples and mandarins to give to the youngsters.
As of yesterday about 16,000 tickets had been sold for the fixture.
The match is for the Gordon Hunter Memorial Trophy, which is held by the Highlanders.
