A disused former hospital suffered extensive damage in a blaze in Stratford, Taranaki, overnight.
Nine fire trucks attended the blaze at the old Stratford Hospital about 3.30am, which was "fully involved'' when they arrived, fire communications spokesman Murray Dunbar said.
The building was severely damaged, he said.
The fire was now out.
