Those wanting to go on their own tiki tour of Maori experience in the lower South Island now have a map to guide them.
The Southern Maori business network, Te Kupeka Umaka ki Araiteuru (Kuma), has launched a new website and map.
Kuma chairman Richard Kerr-Bell, speaking at the launch, at the Royal Albatross Centre last week, said the website was a way of supporting its Maori tourism partners, and share attractions with a national and international audience.
The website features an online map of Maori-operated tourist attractions, and features localised Maori stories courtesy of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Otakou representative Tahu Potiki.
Mr Kerr-Bell said people could use the map as a Maori-themed trail across the lower South Island.
It was hoped the development of the website, which was funded by Te Puni Kokiri, would be expanded across the South Island, he said.
Mayor Dave Cull said the Dunedin City Council was supportive of the map website, and wanted to encourage more Maori businesses to "see the potential of the visitor market".
