Christchurch Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a teenage girl at the Occupy Christchurch site in Hagley Park yesterday afternoon.
Detective Sergeant Darryl Sweeney said the site was secured overnight and a scene examination completed this morning. Inquiries are continuing.
Police are speaking to a number of people at the site and protesters are cooperating fully.
There is no indication as to whether the offender is connected to the protest group, Mr Sweeney said.
"We are keen to hear from any members of the public who may have been in the vicinity of the Occupy site on Thursday afternoon and noticed any suspicious activity.''
