A St John medical tent has been set up outside the Oamaru Hospital for staff to see patients who show symptoms of Covid-19 or have other infectious diseases.

It will be used to take swabs as well as the history of the patient in cases where this is clinically indicated.

This will help streamline services as Oamaru Hospital expects to see more possible Covid-19 cases in the coming days, due to increased primary care testing, Waitaki District Health Services chief executive Ruth Kibble said.
