"I love that it's a covered stadium. It's such a blessing," the Auckland singer said last night.
"I wore a red outfit to 'Christmas in the Park' in Auckland in 2001 and it absolutely poured down. All the red dye ran in my outfit."
Cross had a sneak preview of Forsyth Barr Stadium soon after arriving in Dunedin yesterday morning.
"This is going to be so awesome. It's just wonderful to be here and it's going to be a stunning concert," she said.
Dunedin singer-songwriter Matt Langley, who will feature in the "Big Night In" pre-concert programme at 5.20pm tomorrow, entertained performers and sponsors at Dunedin Casino last night.
Wellington singer Ainslie Allen was still up in the air, hours after touching down in Dunedin yesterday.
"Singing's my life, but I've never even performed in a covered stadium like this before. I can't wait for the concert, because I get to play with my industry mates, which is always great fun," she said, gesturing to a group of her "Big Night In" co-stars at the function last night.
"I haven't seen Chris Cole or Chris Fennessy for years, so this feels like a family get-together. Usually, you only have get-togethers like this at funerals.
"It's going to be a heck of a lot of fun."
Allen will debut her single, Baby, by her alter ego MissAKA at the concert.
"Big Night In" artistic producer Doug Kamo was a happy, but weary, man with just two sleeps to go last night.
"We're well on target and I'm really happy with where we're at. There are some very tired people walking around, though. We've been starting some days at 7am and finishing at 4am," he said.
"I am really excited, but it's still all about getting the job done at this stage."
The community concert is free and a gold coin donation will be collected at the gate to be distributed to Kidscan (50%), Dunedin North Lions (10%) and Big Night In Charities Ltd (40%).
