Question from the floor: Audience member John Wilson wanted to know if Labour's Clare Curran and National's Joanne Hayes supported the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes.

Mrs Hayes said her party's stance was that there was no support for it.

Ms Curran said she supported its medicinal use "as long as it's done properly".

She had not voted in favour of a private member's Bill to amend the Misuse of Drugs Act, which would have enabled its use as a medicine, because "the Bill was a disgrace", she said.
