Alpine Health and Fitness will celebrate its second birthday with a retro-themed day and full timetable of free classes and gym entry this weekend.
The centre opened in 2009, on the completion of the aquatics facilities at the Queenstown Events Centre.
Manager Richie Heap said it had been a "resounding success" with more than 1500 current members, but the free-entry birthday celebration would provide a good opportunity to visit the facility for people yet to see the gym.
"Most people would know someone who comes to the gym regularly, as our members really do span young and old from all walks of life, but there are still people out there who have never done a class, or tried out the fantastic equipment we have in the gym.
"We are even giving the best retro-dressed person in every class a 10-visit concession pass, so now's a great time to come on down to the centre," Mr Heap said.
All current members who made the effort to "go retro" on the day will also go in the draw for a three-month membership extension and there would be a free sausage sizzle at the centre between 11am and 1pm.
Alpine Health and Fitness was in the final planning and consent stages for the development of a self-funded, purpose-built RPM studio which the Lakes Leisure team hoped would open early next year, Mr Heap said.
The studio would allow for more RPM classes to be run, and free up the Group Fitness Studio for other popular classes such as Body Pump and Yoga.
