The North American Welsh Choir (left) performed to a capacity crowd at St Peter's Parish in Queenstown on Saturday night in the final performance of its 2011 New Zealand tour.

The choir began with New Zealand's national anthem, then the choir's artistic director and conductor, Mari Morgan, told the audience - some of whom hailed from as far afield as South Korea, Australia, Texas and Canada - the 35 singers had thoroughly enjoyed their New Zealand experiences but "we won't be able to fully appreciate them until we go home and digest, because no-one knows what day of the week it is [at the moment]".

Included in their programme was Benedictus - which began with a waltz in the aisle of the church.

The choir performed in Rotorua, Wellington and Dunedin before arriving in Queenstown.

The choir was founded in 1998 and reaches its cross-continental choristers via the internet. It features choristers who live in 25 US states and three Canadian provinces.
