Queenstown artists and friends Emma Butler and Rachael Errington will present their latest works in a joint exhibition to be launched in Artbay Gallery on December 15.
Hailed as two of the most popular artists in the contemporary art gallery in the Mountaineer building, Butler was anticipated to provide at least 10 pieces from her Ruby series and a new collection, while Errington was expected to supply 16 pieces in a continuation and variation of her tree series.
Asked what prompted their collaboration, gallery owner and Amisfield Winery curator Pauline Bianchi said: "They're both local artists and good friends and both bodies of work are quite different, but both fit quite well together because of Emma's Ruby character and Rachael's tree series."
Queenstown film-maker Ben Ryan, of Reason Films, will produce a 10-minute profile of both artists and their inspirations and processes for screening in Artbay Gallery.
