The Wanaka-based athlete, best known for his adaptive ski standing slalom success at last year's Paralympic Games in Vancouver, is leaving for Winter Park, Colorado on Saturday.
He is one of many Queenstown Lakes district athletes chasing the snow.
Even with winning the Winter Games adaptive slalom and giant slalom events this year, Hall says the year has been all about experimentation.
"It's been about trying to find ways to make me go faster, and working with new equipment ... to fine-tune the turbo."
Hall is taking about eight pairs of the hi-tech skis to Winter Park. With knee surgery out of the way at the end of September, he is now focusing on getting back to his best for the International Paralympic Committee World Cup circuit.
He is not looking to peak until he returns to New Zealand in 2012, where he will begin preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
"This coming season is all about getting back to where I was with Vancouver, working with my new coach [Scott Olson] and building the relationships with everybody else on the team," he said.
"As well as getting out there and doing what we do best - bringing medals home for New Zealand."
