Australian Motorcycling News editor Sam Maclachlan and photographer Mark Watson will be exploring Otago this weekend for a magazine feature about motorcycling in the South Island.
"It's perfect for motorcycling in New Zealand.
"You've got fantastic scenery, great roads and great 'twisties' [twisting roads]," Mr Maclachlan said in Dunedin yesterday.
The Australian journalists were lent a pair of 2012 Harley-Davidson demonstration models by McIver and Veitch Ltd for a tour through Central Otago.
"It's the first time I've ridden over here and I'm loving it," Mr Watson said.
The riders will be in Queenstown today and will explore Wanaka, Alexandra, Ranfurly and Mt Cook before returning to Sydney next week.
The trip will be featured in a 10-page spread in Australian Motorcycling News and an article in the Harley Owners Group magazine, Mr Maclachlan said.
"We're going to give them a taste of what motorcycling in New Zealand is all about."
The 22nd Harley Owners Group national rally will be held in Dunedin from February 17 to 19 next year.
