A report that could lead to upgrades for Dunedin's Fortune and Mayfair theatres has been delayed until next year.
The Dunedin City Council established a theatre working party in March to work with theatre groups and consider possible improvements to the two theatres, as well as other requirements.
The results had been expected shortly, but council community life general manager Graeme Hall told this week's community development committee meeting the report would not be completed until March next year.
Work was continuing, but consultants involved in the project had also been busy dealing with the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquakes, he said.
Cr Bill Acklin - the chairman of both the working party and the committee - also acknowledged the delays, but said it was possible the report's recommendations would involve some "quite significant costs".
"We are getting those numbers together at the moment."
The completed report would be presented to the community development committee, and councillors would then decide whether to refer it to the 2013-14 annual plan hearings.
