The Otago cricketers enjoyed the Cromwell sun during a training session at Anderson Park yesterday as they worked towards the start of their season.

"[We] decided to come through to Cromwell for the good weather and wickets," coach Vaughn Johnson said.

"It's fantastic in terms of facilities."

The 18-man team, with two support crew, is in Cromwell for a week for a training camp aimed at building skills and the team culture.

"So we get everyone out of town and staying together... it's absolutely fantastic," Johnson said.

The season starts for the Volts on November 7 when they play Canterbury in a Plunket Shield match in Rangiora.

"But we've been back to work for two weeks," Johnson said.
