A man has been hospitalised after being shot in the stomach by police in Sydney's west.
Police say a critical incident investigation team has been formed following the shooting at Colyton early this morning, after reports of a break-in at a house in Holmes Street.
An armed 19-year-old approached police and a shot was fired.
The man is undergoing surgery at Westmead Hospital for a gunshot wound to his stomach.
A crime scene has been established and specialist officers are in attendance.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
